Development inherited from the Martian Moons eXploration mission
TRL 5

Description

HECTOR is a rotary actuator designed to rotate devices by 90° or 180°. This actuator uses a NiTi rod that activates from 90°C, with an operational temperature range from -120 to +70°C. Two types of actuators are available: “single” and “double” HECTOR. The “single” version has one fixed and one movable interface, with the movable interface requiring rotational guidance. The “double” version features a central fixed interface and two movable interfaces at the ends, allowing it to be self-supporting and does not necessarily require guidance. HECTOR rotational hinges enable controlled, gradual, and shock-free rotation, generating high torque with an activation accuracy of +/-3° HECTOR hinges require an anti-return system to secure and lock the position for the duration of the mission. A catalog of 11 HECTOR products is available.
